Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons 45g butter
  • 1 package 10 oz or ~285g mini marshmallows
  • or about 5 ½ cups if using large marshmallows
  • 6 cups 150g Rice Krispies cereal
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: Pinch of salt for balance

Instructions

Melt the Butter

  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, stirring occasionally.

Add Marshmallows

  • Stir in the marshmallows. Continue cooking over low heat, stirring frequently, until completely melted and smooth.

(Optional) Add Vanilla & Salt

  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt if using.

Mix in Cereal

  • Immediately add the Rice Krispies cereal. Stir quickly and thoroughly until all the cereal is evenly coated.

Press into Pan

  • Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Use a buttered spatula or wax paper to gently press the mixture into an even layer—don’t press too hard or the treats may turn dense.

Cool and Cut

  • Let cool at room temperature for at least 30 minutes, then cut into squares or bars and serve.
