- 1 lb ground beef lean or extra-lean
- 1 small onion chopped
- 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1 package frozen tater tots about 32 oz
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Brown the ground beef with chopped onions in a skillet over medium heat. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess fat.
Mix in the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream. Stir until combined.
Transfer beef mixture to a greased 9x13" baking dish. Spread evenly.
Sprinkle shredded cheese over the beef layer.
Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top.
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy, and the casserole is bubbling.
